ANNUAL WINDOW

Global Adjustment — Ontario Class A

Five hours a year set your charge for the next twelve months.

~$175k – $250k per MW-year Indicative value
Ontario Jurisdiction
What it is

Global Adjustment pays for Ontario’s generation contracts. Under Class A a large customer’s share for the whole year is set by its demand during the province’s five highest peak hours. Discharge through those hours and the charge falls.

Timing

The opt-in window runs 1 to 15 June, annually.

Who qualifies
  • Ontario customer above the Class A demand threshold
  • Opt in during the annual window
  • Storage sized to hold through a full peak event
  • Peak forecasting, in-house or bought in
What it is worth
  • Roughly $175,000 to $250,000 per MW-year
  • Measured on a single peak hour, so accuracy beats capacity
  • Stacks with distribution demand charges
Watch out for
  • Global Adjustment is not a rate you can look up — it is a settled charge
  • Missing a peak hour costs a twelfth of the year’s benefit
  • The EMS has to call the hours, not react to them

How we help

We size the system against your interval data and program the EMS to forecast and call the peaks rather than chase them.
